Hi everyone! My name is Jennifer and I am venturing into the world of earning badges to showcase to my peers and colleagues the skills I have learned. The first badge I am going to earn is the Webmaking 101 badge. I want to take on this learning challenge because in the last few years I have discovered that I want to shift my career into digital media communications. My background is in Human Rights and Social Justice so I have no formal training in communications or media but I am very interested in getting the training I need to be an effective contributor to the communications field. Right now I am working with the Office of Academic Community Engagement at Siena College in Loudonville, New York as a graphic designer and communications assistant. Right now one of my biggest tasks is to create a well organized and visually pleasing website for my office and I am excited to take this challenge so I can learn more about webmaking basics.
As for some fun facts about me: I served full-time in AmeriCorps VISTA (similar to the PeaceCorps but in the United States) for 3 years, I got my degree in Law, Societies, and Justice at the University of Washington in Seattle, I love learning about digital communications and hope to go into the field as a career someday.
